Core Steps:

1. Configure Router 1 (Main Internet Router)

  • IP Address: Set to 192.168.1.1

  • Enable DHCP:

    • Start IP: 192.168.1.3

    • End IP: 192.168.1.254 (or suitable range for your network size)

  • Connect to Broadband: Ensure Router 1 is connected to your internet source.

  • WiFi Setup: Configure WiFi with a strong password and enable WPA3 or WPA2 security.

2. Configure Router 2 (Access Point of Printers)

  • IP Address: Set static IP to 192.168.1.2

  • Disable DHCP: Make sure DHCP is turned off to avoid conflicts.

  • Mode: Set Router 2 in "Access Point" or "Bridge" mode.

  • Connect to Router 1: Use a LAN port on Router 2 to connect to a LAN port on Router 1, not the WAN port.

3. Configure Printers

  • Printer 1:

    • Static IP: 192.168.1.87

    • Connection: Connect via Ethernet to Router 2.

  • Printer 2:

    • Static IP: 192.168.1.88

    • Connection: Connect via Ethernet to Router 2.

Verification Steps:

A. Check Router Settings:

  • Router 1: Ensure DHCP range starts from .3 and does not include .2, .87, or .88.

  • Router 2: Confirm DHCP is disabled and the mode is set correctly.

B. Manual Device Check:

  • Ping Test:

    • On any network-connected computer, open Command Prompt:

      • Type ping 192.168.1.87 to check Printer 1.

      • Type ping 192.168.1.88 to check Printer 2.

    • If you get replies, the printers are reachable.

C. Physical and Connectivity Checks:

  • Cables: Ensure all Ethernet cables are securely connected.

  • Power: All devices, including printers, should be powered on.

D. Device Functionality:

  • Printer Test: Print a test page from a device connected to the network to confirm functionality for both printers.

E. Troubleshooting:

  • No Response from Printers:

    • Verify IP settings on each printer.

    • Check if printers respond when connected directly to a PC or via a different network port.

  • Network Issues:

    • If devices aren't connecting, check router firewall settings or try disabling them temporarily for testing.

  • Documentation: Write down all settings, IP addresses, and configurations for future reference.

Final Checks:

  • Internet Access: Ensure all devices can access the internet.

  • POS Systems: Verify that all POS systems can connect to and use both printers.
